Position Overview
Bridges ends homelessness through street outreach and intensive case management focusing on health, housing, and independence. Bridges forms relationships with those experiencing homelessness while meeting their most urgent needs. We are seeking a passionate and highly organized Volunteer Coordinator to manage and grow our volunteer engagement efforts. This role plays a key part in building meaningful experiences for volunteers that support our mission to end homelessness through outreach and supportive services.
The Volunteer Coordinator will oversee weekly volunteer sign-ups, corporate engagement events, and volunteer communications. They will also play a strategic role in transitioning volunteers into long-term supporters by collecting and analyzing volunteer data to inform a stewardship and donor pipeline strategy
Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000 per year
Key Responsibilities: Volunteer Management & Engagement
- Coordinate weekly volunteer opportunities across program sites (Summit, Newark, and outreach areas)
- Manage volunteer sign-up platforms and communications, ensuring roles are filled and expectations are clear
- Respond promptly and professionally to all volunteer inquiries
- Provide on-site or virtual support for select volunteer activities
Corporate Engagement
- Plan and support corporate volunteer days, including logistics coordination with the Operations and Outreach teams
- Serve as primary point of contact for corporate volunteer leadsTrack corporate volunteer participation
- and follow up with engagement and giving opportunities
Data Collection & Analysis
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer participation using tracking systems or CRM tools
- Analyze volunteer engagement data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities
- Collaborate with the Development team to establish a volunteer-to-donor pipeline and support stewardship efforts
Collaboration
- Work closely with the Director of Development to align volunteer efforts with broader fundraising and communications strategies
- Coordinate with the Operations and Outreach teams to ensure volunteer roles are meaningful, safe, and aligned with programming needs
- Support special events and campaigns as needed, including impact nights, volunteer fairs, packing events, and 5K fundraisers
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, or nonprofit program support
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple moving pieces
- Comfort working with diverse populations and corporate partners
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in Google Workspace and volunteer/donor management systems (e.g., Signup Genius, Raisers Edge or similar CRM)
- Passion for Bridges Outreach’s mission and values
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with underserved populations or in social services.
Familiarity with local community organizations and resources.
Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus.
Working Conditions:
Full-time position with occasional weekend or evening work required. Ability to lift and carry materials (up to 25 lbs).
