Crisis Response Advocate- Must Live Within 30 minutes of Nashua

Pre-Service qualifications: Relevant college degree, course work, or work experience. effective communication skills and desire to work on the topics of domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse and elder abuse. Ability to intervene appropriately in crisis situations and to maintain client confidentiality. Successful completion of 35 hours of pre-service training required.

Supervision: The Crisis Response Advocate is supervised directly by the Direct Service

Program Coordinator and will participate in biweekly supervisory meetings. In addition, the

Crisis Response Advocate will be required to provide office staff with weekly feedback and updates and to participate in weekly agency staff meetings and monthly clinical supervision sessions when advocates schedule allows.

Responsibilities:

1. Available for shifts during non-office hours (Monday through Thursday 6pm-6am and/or weekend shifts Friday through Sunday 6am-6pm and 6pm-6am). These shifts are paid with a stipend and an hourly rate for any hours actually worked.

2. Respond to clients in crisis. Identify problems, explore options, and support clients in making their own decisions.

3. Offer emotional support, assistance, advocacy, and referral information.

4. Contact Direct Service Program Coordinator or a Bridges advocate the next business day to relay any follow-up advocacy that needs to take place, debrief after your shift, and discuss any unusual circumstances that arose.

5. Be accessible to the answering service and to support line volunteers by phone during your shift.

6. Maintain contact sheets and timesheets. Contact sheets must be returned with timesheet by Monday at noon.

7. Advocate with clients in person at the police stations, hospitals, and other agencies, as determined by the client involved. Provide limited transportation to clients.

8. Complete shelter assessments and intakes when needed, as well as respond to the emergency shelter residents. Consult with staff during shelter assessment, intakes or when responding to shelter residents.

9. Collaborate with other staff to enhance direct service delivery as assigned.

10. Develop and maintain contacts with other human service providers in the greater Nashua
Area.

11. Promote the agency’s mission.

12. Deliver services in accordance to Bridges Trauma-Informed statement.

13. Adhere to expectations consistent with Bridges definition of cultural competence. These expectations seek to clarify the knowledge, attitudes, skills and practices needed to provide culturally and linguistic competent services to the diverse population of the Greater Nashua area.

14. Attend training programs and use practices that promote culturally competent services.

15. Other duties as assigned.
