Qualifications
Associate degree in Human Resources or related business field with two years of human resources experience OR four years of human resources experience.
Job Summary
This position plays a key role in creating a consistent and positive employee experience while maintaining legal compliance and helping maintain core functions of managing employee-related matters at the college. This includes recruitment, onboarding, training, employee relations, benefits administration, and ensuring legal compliance. Be a team player and be willing to take on other duties as needed or assigned.
Essential Duties: This position requires extensive hands-on interaction with faculty, staff, and Administration. Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. As a result, this position requires physical presence to complete the essential duties found below.
General:
- Working knowledge of human resources and advanced knowledge and experience in at least two of the following areas: benefits, compensation, employee relations, employment, recruitment, and training
- Ability to interpret, analyze, and advise on the application of federal and state laws related to HR and employment
- Monitor HR policies and practices to ensure legal and procedural compliance.
- Interpret existing and recommend new policies/procedures to effectively administer and improve human resource programs, procedures and training.
- Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops to small and large groups
- Maintain employee insurance benefits and correspondence.
- Maintain employee personnel files.
- Maintain standard operating procedures and instructions for HR processes within the college
- Ability to process highly confidential and sensitive personnel records in a professional and confidential manner.
- Serves on committees or teams to improve college processes or services
- Ability to respond professionally to difficult and demanding issues.
- Ability to maintain control, composure, and flexibility in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to use independent judgement and to manage and impart confidential information
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and analyze and solve problems
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
- Ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions to complex human resource issues.
- Attend hiring committees as needed.
