About the Role
Bridger Engineering & Design is a growing structural engineering firm specializing in residential and light commercial projects throughout West Michigan.
We are looking for a Structural Engineer who is comfortable working in Revit and can independently review, redline, and develop structural construction drawings.
This is a hands-on engineering position. You will work on custom homes, additions, renovations, structural repairs, and other residential projects while collaborating directly with our engineering and design team.

What You'll Do
- Perform structural analysis and design for residential and light commercial projects.
- Design foundations, beams, columns, floor systems, roof framing, wall systems, connections, and lateral systems.
- Review and redline structural and architectural drawings.
- Work directly in Revit to develop and coordinate structural construction documents.
- Develop structural details and calculations for construction.
- Review architectural plans and identify structural requirements or potential issues.
- Design practical solutions for additions, remodels, open floor plans, large openings, decks, porches, and other residential conditions.
- Evaluate existing structures and develop repair or reinforcement recommendations.
- Coordinate with architects, builders, contractors, homeowners, and other members of the project team.
- Occasionally perform site visits to verify existing conditions or address construction questions.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional experience performing structural building design.
- Working proficiency in Autodesk Revit.
- Ability to review and redline construction drawings.
- Understanding of wood-frame construction and common residential structural systems.
- Ability to perform structural calculations and translate engineering decisions into clear construction documents.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred — But Not Required
- EIT certification or PE license.
- Residential structural engineering experience.
- Experience with RISA, ENERCALC, or similar structural analysis software.
- Familiarity with IRC, IBC, ASCE 7, NDS, and other applicable structural codes.
- Experience conducting structural site evaluations.
- Experience communicating directly with contractors, architects, and clients.
