SUMMARY:
Kitchen staff prepare food, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting supervisors by ensuring meals are made safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. Regularly interact with guests to deliver positive experiences.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Prepare and cook a variety of foods, including breakfast items, grilled and fried dishes, soups, sandwiches, salads, and daily specials, while maintaining high food quality and portion control.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, including daily cleaning of equipment, grease traps, and work surfaces; complete and maintain cleaning logs.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, servers, bartenders, and guests to support smooth kitchen operations and exceptional customer service.
- Receive, stock, and rotate food inventory, report supply needs to managers.
- Perform general kitchen duties including dishwashing, waste disposal (trash, recycling, compost), and restocking hand sanitizer stations.
- Adhere to all Montana Department of Health and Liquor Control regulations.

SUPERVISION:
- Supervision Given: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
- Supervision Received: Works under the supervision of the Food Service Supervisors. Receive assignments as directed, with clear expectations, available guidance, and periodic performance reviews as needed or during check-ins.

Qualifications:
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in food service, production, and/or knowledge of the restaurant industry.
- Food handling certification.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Positions at the Deer Park Chalet and Alpine Cabin require possession of ski equipment and the ability to ride a chairlift, ski at Level II (intermediate) and ski in dark conditions from the Deer Park Chalet to the base area.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Outdoors: Regularly work in wet, cold, quickly changing winter conditions requiring the use of protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces.
- Indoors: Can be exposed to hazardous conditions and equipment that may result in minor cuts or burns. Are often exposed to hot and cold temperatures, such as working near ovens and fryers, or retrieving food from freezers.
- Exposure: Are frequently exposed to contaminants, such as cleaning supplies and chemical degreasers. Are often exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting and uncomfortable. Sometimes it requires work in extremely bright or inadequate lighting.
- Work physically near others throughout the shift.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, bend or be on your feet for extended periods of time.
- Be capable of lifting and carrying 50 lbs.
- Requires the ability to learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, communicate effectively with coworkers and visitors, handle stressful situations and upset customers, and completing tasks independently and efficiently.
