What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controls Engineer position at Bridger Automation?
Controls Engineer — Bridger Automation
Harford County, MD | Full-Time | Continental US Travel Required
Let’s be honest. This job isn’t for everyone.
If you need your evenings free, your weekends sacred, and your comfort zone untouched — we wish you well. Truly.
But if you’re the kind of controls engineer who gets annoyed when things are “good enough,” who thinks PLC programming is an art form, and who genuinely enjoys being dropped into a facility you’ve never seen before and figuring it out — keep reading.
What we do:
Bridger Automation pushes conveyor controls to the limit. We’re not here to do what’s always been done. We’re here to do what hasn’t been done yet. That means AI is in our toolkit — not because it’s trendy, but because we use every weapon available. If that makes you nervous, this probably isn’t your place. If that fires you up, welcome home.
What you bring:
• Allen-Bradley and Beckhoff PLC programming — not “I’ve touched it,” but actually competent
• Controls design in AutoCAD Electrical
• HMI development
• VFD and servo experience
• Industrial networking — EtherNet/IP and EtherCAT
• 3 years of real-world experience (not just classroom hours)
• A bag you don’t mind living out of
Fair warning:
This will be hard. The hours will be real. The travel will be real. The accountability will be real. We are not a punch-in-punch-out operation.
But when you help solve something nobody else could crack? You’ll feel it. And that’s exactly why you got into this field.
Think you’re crazy enough? Good. So are we.
