We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist with over 3 years of experience in payroll processing. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of payroll functions, including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes. They will be responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, investigating discrepancies, and collaborating with leadership on payroll strategy. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and Workday is required. The candidate must have a comprehensive understanding of federal laws and payroll practices, experience with multi-state tax, and an FPC certification. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.
Expectations for the Role:
- Review timecards for accuracy, tax setup, and garnishments.
- Research discrepancies payroll information and/or documentation.
- Answer managers' questions regarding payroll-related items.
- Perform periodic internal audits of various payroll areas.
- Handle special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
- Collaborate closely with leadership on payroll strategy to deliver best-in-class payroll solutions.
- Stay informed of regulatory changes and implement various tax changes.
- Support strategic and cross-functional projects, including evaluating current processes and suggesting improvements and efficiencies.
- Approve and assist with any escalated wages, overtime payments, and payroll deductions issues.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Investigate any FTO/PTO variances and collaborate with HR for verification of eligibility as needed.
- Approve manual checks cut outside of normal pay cycles.
- Oversee holiday time processing and approve eligibility.
What you should bring
