Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate spiritual care tailored to the unique needs of hospice patients and their families, including counseling and emotional support.
• Provide bereavement support to families before and after a loved one’s passing, guiding them through grief with sensitivity and understanding.
• Lead educational sessions, workshops, or community events focused on hospice care, end-of-life planning, or spiritual wellness to foster awareness and comfort.
• Utilize strong public speaking and presentation skills to communicate complex topics clearly and empathetically during community outreach or staff training.
• Mentor healthcare team members by sharing expertise in crisis management, conflict resolution, and effective communication strategies.
• Offer crisis intervention when urgent emotional or spiritual needs arise, ensuring immediate support and appropriate follow-up.
• Manage event planning for memorial services or spiritual gatherings that provide comfort and connection for families and caregivers.
• Maintain detailed documentation of patient interactions, care plans, and bereavement activities with excellent writing skills to ensure accurate records.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate spiritual care into overall hospice services seamlessly.
• Provide leadership by guiding volunteers or new staff in delivering compassionate hospice care aligned with organizational values.

Requirements

• Proven experience in hospice care or related healthcare settings.
• Exceptional communication skills—both verbal and written—to effectively engage patients, families, and team members.
• Demonstrated ability to lead presentations, teach groups, or speak publicly with confidence and clarity.
• Skilled in event planning, crisis intervention, conflict management, and crisis management to handle sensitive situations professionally.
• Experience providing bereavement support with empathy and cultural sensitivity.
• Strong leadership qualities with the ability to mentor colleagues and foster teamwork within a compassionate environment.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in documentation.
• Certification as a chaplain or equivalent credential preferred; ongoing education in spiritual care or related fields is advantageous.
