What are the responsibilities and job description for the After School STEAM Teacher position at Bricks 4 Kidz?
Bricks 4 Kidz of Grand Rapids is hiring for summer day camps. We are currently looking for teachers and assistants for our hands-on summer day camp technic camps, Video Game Design and Spike Prime camps. We are seeking adults who love to engage with kids using FUN, inspiring, hands-on methods, to teach STEAM, using LEGO® bricks, motors, and battery packs. You bring the experience of working with the kids, and we will teach you to build with LEGO® bricks, in a fun and engaging way. The most important part of our job is having FUN, while making a tremendous impact on kids, as they learn Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math!
These are great positions for education and engineering students, retired teachers, teachers returning to work, and responsible high school and college students.
Details:
* Must be available to work either 8:00am-12:15pm, 12:00-4:30pm, or 8:00-4:30pm, Monday through Thursday
* Camps begin the week of June 8 and run through August 6
* Job is flexible enough to work around another job and/or school schedule
* Technic camp teachers should be familiar with LEGO bricks and able to build following model instructions
* Video Game Design teachers are needed who are familiar/proficient in Scratch programming
* Spike Prime teachers are needed who are familiar with/proficient with Spike Prime kits and programming
This is a SEASONAL, part-time position. Staff performing well during summer camps may be invited to join the after school class team for weekly classes that resume in September. Workshops, birthday parties and other special events may offer more hours as well.
Summer day camps take place primarily in Kent and Ottawa counties, but we also will host camps in Kalamazoo and Wixom. We are looking for lead teachers and assistants who live in or near our primary school districts: East Grand Rapids, Forest Hills, Grand Rapids, Grandville, Hudsonville, Northview, and Rockford. We also need teachers and assistants at Bricks & Minifigs locations in the greater Grand Rapids area.
Qualifications:
*have experience and enjoy working with children ages 4 - 14 years.
*reliable transportation is required.
*be on time, have an excellent work ethic, and organization skills.
*be able to complete administrative tasks, and follow lesson plans
*enjoy math & science concepts
*be able to pass a background check through the Michigan State Police
*be able to manage a classroom with class sizes up to 20 students

Pay: Lead teachers of technic camps earn $300 per camp. Assistant teachers earn $200 per camp. Video Game Design and Spike Prime teachers earn $350 per camp.
Salary : $13 - $17
