Position Summary
We are hiring energetic, responsible, and dependable instructors to lead Bricks 4 Kidz Engineering Brick Club after-school programs.
Our hands-on classes use LEGO-style bricks, motors, gears, axles, and creative challenges to introduce elementary-age children to engineering, science, technology, architecture, teamwork, and problem-solving.
Instructors receive training, prepared lesson plans, curriculum, and program materials. Advanced engineering or LEGO-building experience is not required.
Compensation and Schedule
- $17.00 per hour
- Approximately 2–3 paid hours per workday
- Primarily weekday afternoon assignments
- Number of assigned days may depend on instructor availability and program enrollment
- Additional opportunities may be available during camps, teacher-planning days, school breaks, workshops, birthday parties, and special events
Paid working time may include:
- Arriving before class for setup
- Teaching the scheduled program
- Supervising student dismissal
- Organizing and returning program materials
- Completing required attendance or incident reports
- Giving Updates on our group chats about the class
Responsibilities
- Lead Engineering Brick Club classes for children approximately 5–12 years old.
- Follow the prepared Bricks 4 Kidz lesson plans and instructions.
- Introduce basic STEM and engineering concepts.
- Guide students through motorized and non-motorized building activities.
- Encourage creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and respectful participation.
- Maintain active supervision and positive classroom management.
- Record student attendance accurately.
- Follow each school’s arrival and dismissal procedures.
- Prepare materials before class and organize them afterward.
- Count and return building kits, motors, tablets, and supplies.
- Communicate professionally with parents, school staff, and management.
- Report incidents, behavioral concerns, damaged materials, or missing equipment promptly.
- Follow all child-safety and student-privacy procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children in a school, camp, childcare, sports, tutoring, church, recreation, or enrichment environment.
- Dependable, punctual, patient, and energetic.
- Comfortable leading groups of elementary-age children.
- Strong communication and classroom-management skills.
- Ability to follow structured lesson plans.
- Weekday afternoon availability.
- Reliable transportation to assigned program locations.
- Ability to arrive approximately 15–20 minutes before class.
- Ability to lift and transport program materials weighing approximately 25–35 pounds.
- Ability to complete required background screening. Level 2 background screening or eligibility to complete it.
Preferred Qualifications
- Teacher, substitute teacher, paraprofessional, education student, camp counselor, tutor, or after-school instructor.
- Interest in STEM, engineering, architecture, robotics, or hands-on education.
- English-Spanish bilingual ability.
- First Aid and CPR certification
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
