We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Director of Activities to lead our activities department at Briarwood Nursing and Rehab in Flint, Michigan. About the Role
As a Director of Activities, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing activities, events, and programs for our residents, including:
Coordinating and facilitating daily activities, such as exercise classes, games, and entertainment events
Developing and implementing activity programs tailored to the needs and interests of our residents
Collaborating with other departments, such as nursing, dietary, and social services, to ensure a comprehensive approach to resident care
Recruiting and supervising activity assistants and volunteers
Maintaining accurate records and reports related to activity programs and resident participation
Developing and managing budgets for activities and events
Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and lead a variety of activities, including exercise classes, arts and crafts, and cultural events
Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses, organizations, and community groups to secure resources and support for activities and events
Conduct assessments to identify resident interests and needs, and develop programs to meet those needs
Supervise and train activity assistants and volunteers
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding activities and programs
Requirements
Qualified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or
Activities Professional Certified by a recognized national body (such as the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals or NCCTR)
High-level communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and staff
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
