JOB TITLE:  Instructor/Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor  


SUMMARY: 

Regular faculty positions at Briar Cliff University are responsible for teaching, advising students, service to the University and community as well as scholarship.  Faculty regularly collaborate with other academic departments, student admissions, athletics, financial aid and other supporting departments of the University.   Most faculty positions require 9-month teaching assignments of 24 credit hours; some require 12-month teaching assignments.  All faculty positions require responsiveness to email and University activities throughout the year.

 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Teach assigned courses in specified discipline (Financial and Managerial, Income Tax, Auditing, Advanced and Cost Accounting, Economics and/or Finance).
    1. Develop and deliver engaging and effective courses
    2. Utilize innovative teaching methodologies, including technology integration, to enhance student learning.
    3. Create and maintain a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
    4. Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
    5. Develop and update course syllabi and materials. 
  1. Serve the University community.
    1. Advise and mentor students, providing academic and career guidance.
    2. Participate in departmental and university committee work.
    3. Contribute to curriculum development and assessment.
    4. Engage in community outreach and professional service activities
    5. Participate in student recruitment, and retention efforts. 
  1. Scholarship
    1. Stay current with academic and industry trends
    2. Maintain an active research and/or presentation profile including connecting with local employers as appropriate 
  1. Professional Development
    1. Attend professional development workshops, and conferences to maintain and increase knowledge in the field
    2. Stay up-to-date on latest teaching methodologies and technology 

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Masters degree with at least 18 credit hours in Accounting, Management, Finance or related area.
  2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  3. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students
  4. Demonstrated proficiency in teaching excellence, preferably at the university level.
  5. The ability to work effectively and independently with limited supervision.
  6. Proficiency with computer software: including but not limited to Microsoft Office, database, and electronic calendar
  7. Proven ability to develop and maintain a professional, collaborative, and spirited environment
  8. Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines
  9. Flexibility

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Certification (CFA, CPA) in at least one state preferred
  2. Industry experience in the subject of instruction
  3. Experience with online, hybrid and face-to-face instruction
  4. Experience teaching in a diverse student environment..


LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.   Ability to write reports, business correspondence, speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals for the purposes of assessing program performance.

 REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
