Duties
- Assist pharmacists with medication preparation, including compounding sterile and non-sterile prescriptions using aseptic techniques for IV infusions and other therapies
- Manage medication intake, inventory control, and ensure proper storage of pharmaceuticals in accordance with safety standards
- Provide excellent patient service by accurately processing prescriptions, answering medication-related questions, and supporting patient care initiatives
- Support hospital-based medication administration processes, ensuring timely delivery of medications to various departments
- Maintain detailed documentation of medication dispensing, inventory logs, and compliance records
- Apply medical terminology knowledge to interpret prescriptions and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals
- Uphold strict aseptic techniques during sterile compounding and IV infusion preparation to prevent contamination
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Pharmacy Technician from an accredited program or regulatory body
- Proven pharmacy technician experience, preferably within LTC pharmacy or hospital settings with exposure to critical care environments
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, medication administration protocols, and aseptic technique procedures
- Experience with IV infusion preparation and handling high-acuity medications in acute care settings
- Knowledge of pharmacy operations related to intake processes, inventory management, and medication safety standards
