What are the responsibilities and job description for the Infection Preventionist - FT Mon-Fri position at Brewster Place?
Key Responsibilities/Duties
Assess and treat complex resident wounds, including ulcers, burns, lacerations and ostomies. Work closely with doctors and other members of patient care teams to determine the best course of treatment for wounds and ensure that treatment plans are followed carefully.
Monitor residents with wounds, including audits of residents charts and care plans, and provide guidance and direction to professional staff. Assure the clinical records are maintained in accordance with regulations, accepted professional standards and risk management standards.
Responsible for dissemination of infection prevention information, including surveillance data and policy decisions.
Review the skin program to ensure Brewsters up to date with most current guidance and recommendations.
Communicates with residents, family members and management regarding resident status. Including those residents who are high risk for skin breakdown and ensuring interventions are put into place.
Conducts formal and informal training for all staff as needed to provide support in working with residents with wounds.
Maintains professional competence and certification and keeps abreast of changes and trends in aging and long-term care fields through attendance and participation in continuing education programs.
Responsible for the effective direction, management and operation of the infection prevention program including education of facility staff members and independent practitioners and consulting with County and State Department of Health and Environment.
Responsible for surveillance and outbreak testing.
Qualifications:Current LPN in good standing in the state of Kansas
This is a full-time position and is Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30pm
