Description:
The dining services utility staff position is responsible for the cleaning of kitchenware (dishes, glasses, utensils, baking sheets, etc.) in accordance with dining hall sanitation procedures. The dining services utility staff performs various general service duties, which include but are not limited to:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the dining hall and dish room
- Stock plates, cups, and utensils before, during, and after service
- Maintain weekly cleaning schedule as pertains to the utility position, e.g., wash, rinse, and sanitize all stainless steel walls, scrub inside/outside of dish machine twice daily, wash, rinse, and sanitize stainless steel utensil bins daily, etc.
- Empty dining hall trash receptacles as needed
- Ensure the safe condition of the dish room area as required by the local health department
- Gather trash from the dish and kitchen areas at the end of the shift and remove to the outside trash bins
- Wash and sanitize dish room surfaces, dish equipment, and maintain cleanliness in the mop room area
- Load and unload the dishwashing machine in accordance with proper usage instructions
- Re-stack clean dishes as they come out of the dishwasher
- Manual scrubbing of pots, pans, and other equipment that cannot be machine-washed
- Sweep and mop the kitchen, serving area, and pantry area nightly.
- Must be able to climb up and down stairs during catering events.
- Follow all safety rules, including the personal use of nonslip shoes
Prior experience in hospitality preferred
Must be able to lift 35 libs on occasion
Stand, bend, lift, carry, and move in 2-hour increments.
