Title: Assistant Director of Athletics
Reports To: Director of Athletics
Brewster Academy seeks an Assistant Director of Athletics to begin July 2024. As a key member of the Athletic Department, the Assistant Director will work closely with the Director of Athletics to implement and promote the Brewster Athletic Program and its policies internally and externally to the greater Brewster constituency. An ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work well with others and possess strong organizational, administrative, coaching, and essential leadership skills.

It is our duty as faculty to teach and develop these characteristics within our students. The Athletic Department, with much input from the Assistant Athletic Director, seeks to provide an appropriate and meaningful platform for this teaching.
Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant Director of Athletics will:
- serve as the school’s sports information director (provide timely website schedule and score updates; consult with the school’s communications department regularly; consistent content creation for Brewster Athletics’ social media)
- schedule and manage travel arrangements and travel costs for interscholastic teams
- manage student participation, sign-up, and attendance in the co-curricular program
- organize and execute payment for NEPSAC, Lake Region League, interscholastic team event fees, and other co-curricular program costs
- schedule and execute payment for officials
- schedule Brewster athletic facility use by outside vendors (when applicable) during the academic school year
- together with the Director of Athletics, recruit and manage interscholastic coaches and co-curricular activity leaders
- organize and deliver the co-curricular student evaluation and instructor evaluation processes
- organize athletic awards, recognition, and event ceremonies
- together with the Director of Athletics, provide coverage at interscholastic games and other athletic department events, which may include lakefront activities (this Assistant Director will be trained in Lifesaving and Commercial boating)
- together with the Director of Athletics, develop the athletic department and interscholastic coaches professional development program
- serve as a member of the faculty (teach one section in an academic department, perform coaching duties for one season and participate in residential life)
Requirements:
A bachelor's degree is required. The Assistant Director must be comfortable and capable with technology and be able to be trained on the school’s technology platforms: Veracross/Axiom (school database), Final Site (website), Playsight (Livestream), Arbiter (referee assigning and payment service), and Google suite. A demonstrated commitment to the value of athletic programming and its positive effect on adolescent development.
