CNC Setup and Operator
Job Description
The CNC Set-up and Operator is responsible for preparing, setting up, and operating CNC machines to produce precision components in accordance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and production schedules. This role requires high attention to detail, strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Setup and Operation
- Set up CNC lathes, mills, and/or multi-axis machining centers according to setup sheets, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Install and adjust tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices for each job.
- Load programs into machine controls and verify correct operation.
- Perform first-piece inspections and make offset adjustments as needed to achieve specifications.
- Production and Quality
- Operate CNC machines to produce parts to print, maintaining dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
- Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, etc.) to verify part quality.
- Monitor machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions, taking corrective action promptly.
