Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
Primary Purpose:
Provide direct nursing services to students under the direction of the district Registered Nurse (RN) and support the overall health and wellness of students to enhance learning and attendance. Assist with implementing individualized healthcare plans, medication administration, health screenings, and daily clinic operations in accordance with district procedures and state guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Valid Texas Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents, and healthcare providers
- Knowledge of basic first aid, emergency procedures, and student health practices
- Experience in pediatric, school, or community health preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide routine and emergency nursing care for students and staff
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and district policy
- Assist with maintaining accurate student health records and documentation
- Monitor students with chronic health conditions and implement healthcare plans as directed
- Assist with state-required screenings and immunization compliance
- Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and communicate with parents as needed
- Maintain confidentiality of student health information in compliance with FERPA and HIPAA guidelines
- Collaborate with campus staff to support student health and safety needs
- Maintain clinic supplies, equipment, and cleanliness of health office
- Support attendance and wellness initiatives that promote student success
Working Conditions:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
Terms of Employment:
187 day Work calendar and salary established by the Board of Trustees and district compensation plan.
