Scaffold General Laborer
Roles & Responsibilities
The Scaffold General Laborer is an entry-level position that supports scaffolding crews by performing essential job-site tasks, material handling, and basic preparation work to ensure safe and efficient scaffold erection and dismantling.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Material Handling & Movement
- Load, unload, and organize scaffold components (frames, braces, planks, connectors, etc.).
- Transport equipment and materials to and from work areas.
- Maintain proper storage of components to prevent damage and improve efficiency.
2. Site Preparation & Cleanliness
- Prepare work zones for scaffold erection or dismantling.
- Clear debris and hazards from work areas to maintain a safe environment.
- Keep material laydown areas clean and organized.
3. Support for Scaffold Builders
- Assist scaffold erectors by handing tools and components as needed.
- Work under supervision to complete basic assembly and dismantling tasks.
- Follow instructions from lead scaffolders, foremen, or supervisors.
4. Safety Compliance
- Follow all site-specific safety rules, company safety policies, and OSHA standards.
- Use required PPE (hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, safety toe boots, etc.).
- Report unsafe conditions or damaged equipment immediately.
- Maintain awareness of surroundings, especially when working around elevated platforms and heavy equipment.
5. Tool & Equipment Assistance
- Help stage and organize scaffolding tools.
- Perform basic inspections for wear or damage and report issues.
- Assist with securing tools and materials at height to prevent dropped objects.
6. General Labor Tasks
- Assist with barricades, signage, or access control as directed.
- Help with loading trucks, moving pallets, and basic construction support tasks.
- Perform other duties needed to support scaffolding operations.
