RECRUITMENT BONUS – UP TO $5,000!** 
 
The State of Florida is offering a recruitment bonus of up to $5,000 for newly certified officers and for out of state law enforcement officers who move to the Sunshine State!  
 
Certified law enforcement officers who are currently employed by a law enforcement agency within the state of Florida, who will not qualify for the State of Florida recruitment bonus, may be eligible for a one-time recruitment bonus from the Sheriff’s Office of up to $5,000.  
  
Additionally, applicants with prior certified full-time law enforcement experience may start above the minimum starting pay up to $61,776.00 annually based on the applicant's years of service.

**Applicants are not eligible to receive more than one recruitment bonus. State of Florida paid bonuses are contingent upon legislative appropriation



This position is responsible for maintaining law and order in and around the courtroom, ensuring the protection and safety of persons in and around the courtroom, and expediting courtroom proceedings by preparing the courtroom, ensuring the prisoner's prompt appearance in court, and following directives from the judge. Candidates hired directly into the Court Services Unit will NOT be required to complete the full patrol field training program. Court Services has its own training program specific to operating in the Court Services Unit that must be completed by those who are hired directly into this position.

Must be currently certified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Police Standards and Training Commission as a Law Enforcement Officer, currently attending a Florida law enforcement officer academy, or be enrolled in an equivalency of training program (EOT).

Must be at least 20 years of age.

Must have a valid Florida Class E Driver’s License (must maintain for the duration of employment.) 

Requires a FDLE Medical Clearance and successful completion of Psychological and Polygraph Examinations.

Must be within BCSO drug use policy requirements. No use of a controlled substance (defined under F.S. 893) within the last one (1) year for marijuana and three (3) years for all other illegal drugs. 

Must be within BCSO Body Ornamentation/Tattoo Policy (For example: Applicants may have tattoos on the neck , and hands under the following conditions: a) No more than one tattoo on each hand no larger than a quarter (hand is defined as the area from the wrist to the fingertips; b) No more than one tattoo behind each ear or one tattoo on the back of the neck no large than a quarter. ) for clarification, call a member of the Recruitment and Hiring Unit 321 264 5308.

Must pass a Physical Abilities Test.

Candidates hired directly into the Court Services Unit will NOT be required to complete the full patrol field training program. Court Services has its own training program specific to operating in the Court Services Unit that must be completed by those who are hired directly into this position.

The majority of the work for this position is performed inside and immediately surrounding any of the three Brevard County courthouse locations. The employee will interact with the public and may be exposed to infectious or contagious diseases, and allergenic substances. Minimal exposure to bodily fluids and/or blood may occur. The typical noise level for this job is moderate (e.g., business office with computers, printers, light traffic). Depending on the assignment, individuals may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. 

Typical schedule will be Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Due to the nature of the job, candidates must be flexible with schedule and work hours and may be required to work evenings, natural disasters, weekends and /or holidays occasionally. 

 *Any Court Services Deputy who has not successfully completed the full Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Field Training Program will not be eligible to work off-duty in a sworn capacity.
