What are the responsibilities and job description for the Home Health Aid position at Brevard Alzheimers Foundation Inc?
- Aiding with recreational activities, meals, feeding of clients, toileting, and serving beverages and snacks, in addition to giving showers and clothing changes when necessary.
- Conduct hourly count of clients, as well as verifying the attendance sheet matches the client count against the BAFI Live Kiosk. Report any discrepancy immediately.
- Providing companionship through conversation and activities.
- Assist clients with transfer and transport to other rooms.
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as: cleaning bathroom areas, chairs, tables, refrigerator, cabinets, counters, and disposal of trash.
- Assist in loading and unloading clients safely on the BAFI vans.
- Lift, move, and transport clients using proper body techniques to prevent accidents.
- Maintain the comfort, privacy, and dignity of each client in the delivery of services.
- Interact with residents in a manner that displays compassion and empathy promoting a caring environment.
- Responsible for promptly reporting to charge nurse or nursing personnel abnormal findings, health, and behavior changes, or evidence of client abuse or violation of clients' rights.
- Communicates tactfully and properly in sensitive and emotional situations as well as interacting effectively with the client, visitors, families, volunteers, peers, and supervisors.
- Follows up with supervisors, co-workers or clients regarding reported complaints, problems, and concerns.
- Protect the personal belongings of each client including eyeglasses, dentures, hearing aids, purses, jewelry, clothing, memorabilia, etc.
14. Reporting missing items according to established policy and participate in efforts to locate missing items.
15. Comply with safety and infection control procedures including thorough hand washing, use of hand sanitizers, use of disposable gloves where indicated, and proper disposal of soiled materials.
16. Completes job duties with minimal supervisory direction, using appropriate judgment.
17. Attend staff meetings as required.
18. Perform additional assignments as required by Supervisor.
- Home Health Certificate
- High school graduate or equivalency (GED).
- Previous experience with working with the elderly preferred.
- CPR certified.
- Medical aide background preferred.
- Certificate from physician stating freedom from communicable diseases, negative TB test, and ability to perform duties in the program.
- Must pass Level 2 background screening.
8. Must pass all drug testing requirements.
