JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Custom Metal Welder to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for executing precise welding and fabrication tasks on custom metal projects, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship that meets strict specifications. Your expertise will help bring complex metal structures and components to life, contributing to innovative construction and manufacturing solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity for experienced welders passionate about craftsmanship, safety, and continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Reviews drawing and layouts necessary to assemble products, check for fit and alignment, that all prior prep-work is completed, and type of weld required.
Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
Applies filler rod manually to supply weld metal.
Cleans or degreases weld joint or workpiece before welding.
Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes.
Prepares all parts for welding by grooving or scarfing surfaces as instructed.
Chips off excess weld, slag, and spatter.
Preheats workpiece with hand torch.
Positions and clamps workpieces together or assembles them in jig or fixture.
Tacks assemblies together before final welding of assembly, or unit as assembled by Assembly-Fit up Dept.
Checks and straightens with heat or hammer all assemblies prior to finishing.
