Brethren Village Retirement Community, in Lititz, PA, is hiring Resident Dining Aides / Dietary Aides for our on-campus dining areas. Applicants must have completed high school or have a G.E.D., and must be able to work during mornings and afternoons, year-round.


Brethren Village provides competitive pay rates and $1.00 extra per hour for weekend work. Dining Aides have every other weekend off, and no late night work hours.


Dining Aides provide exceptional service to Brethren Village's older adult Residents, including Residents with cognitive and physical limitations. Dining Aides set-up dining areas; deliver and serve meals to Residents; keep assigned dining areas clean and sanitary; consistently provide service in an efficient, professional, and friendly manner. Dining Aides also assist with large, on-campus catered events.


Lead Resident Dining Aides help train, guide, and coordinate the work of other Dining staff ($17.00 / hour starting rate with 1 year of prior experience as a Dietary Aide).


Dining Aides must be able to carry trays, push carts, stand and walk frequently during their shift, communicate effectively with older adult Residents, and follow safe food handling protocols.


Work Schedules


Applicants must be able to work during the morning and afternoon, plus every other weekend and holiday.


  • Full-time, benefits-eligible, 40 hours per week, year-round: schedules may vary and will include mornings plus afternoons; weekdays plus every other weekend and every other holiday (every other weekend and holiday off)

  • Part-time: early mornings or afternoons; typically 16 - 32 hours per week; weekdays plus every other weekend and every other holiday (every other weekend and holiday off)

Core Requirements:


  • a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • basic computer skills: the ability to access and navigate web sites, and use software, apps, and databases independently
  • the ability to complete online training independently
  • dependability: ability and willingness to meet attendance standards
  • attention to safety: ability and willingness to consistently work in a safe and alert manner, and to report to work fit for duty; commitment to wearing protective equipment as required for the position and adhering to all health and safety standards
  • commitment to treating each Resident, Team Member, and member of the Brethren Village community with respect

Additional Requirements for this Position:


  • effective interpersonal and communication skills: must be comfortable initiating mealtime conversations with older adult Residents, including those with cognitive impairment
  • ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment
  • ability and willingness to provide service in a professional and friendly manner, and to consistently interact with others in a pleasant and helpful way
  • willingness to complete all assigned work in an effective and efficient manner, working collaboratively with others
  • must be willing and able to work in a safe and hygienic manner at all times, consistently following Brethren Village protocols and sound food-safety practices
  • the ability to push and pull up to 50 lbs. (carts), and lift up to 25 lbs. (trays); must be able to stand and walk frequently during the shift
  • the ability to work as scheduled, including every other weekend and holiday
  • for Lead positions: at least 1 year of prior experience as a Dining / Dietary Aide; ability to effectively train, guide, and coordinate the work of other staff; the ability to work year-round, dayshift
