JOB/POSITION SUMMARY: The Middle School Science and Social Studies Teacher plans and implements engaging, standards-aligned instruction in both science and social studies, fostering critical thinking, inquiry, and interdisciplinary connections. This full-time position includes teaching responsibilities in both content areas, supporting students in developing a well-rounded understanding of the natural world and human society.
The teacher will create a dynamic learning environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and meaningful connections across disciplines. Through hands-on investigations, discussion-based learning, and project-based experiences, the teacher will guide students in developing scientific reasoning, data analysis skills, and an understanding of core scientific concepts. In social studies, the teacher will support students in analyzing historical events, examining diverse cultures, and developing informed perspectives on civic responsibility and global issues.
By integrating literacy, collaboration, and real-world application into both content areas, the teacher will help students build the skills necessary to think critically, communicate effectively, and become active, informed citizens.

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Certified
SHIFT TYPE: Full-Time
SCHEDULE: 189 day contract based on the district academic calendar and building hours
SALARY: Salary is determined by the Certified Teacher Salary Schedule, which accounts for both years of experience and educational attainment (Masters degrees, specialist credits, etc.). *The District recognizes all years of prior verified teaching experience for placement on the salary scale.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors Degree in Education, or content related field required
- 5-9 Teaching Experience required
- Experience working with a diverse population of children preferred
- Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Teaching Certification in Middle School Science and/or Social Studies required. Candidates currently certified in only one content area must be willing to obtain additional certification in the other area.
