Job Summary:
The QC Lab Specialist is a hands‑on technical role responsible for supporting the company’s food safety and quality systems while performing routine quality control testing on raw materials and finished goods. This position ensures product safety, compliance, and functional performance across our functional ingredient blends.
The ideal candidate brings experience with functional blends, premixes, or hydrocolloid systems within the food or beverage industry, along with a solid understanding of analytical testing and food safety program requirements.
This role follows established testing methodologies, SOPs, and defined specifications to evaluate product quality. Responsibilities include sampling, QC testing, documentation, and coordination of third‑party laboratory analyses. In addition, the position serves as the designated backup to the primary SQF Practitioner, supporting the maintenance and execution of SQF, HACCP, and other food safety programs.
This position does not include supervisory responsibilities or customer‑facing formulation work. It focuses on consistent, accurate execution of quality and food safety processes that support production, operations, and regulatory compliance.

Job Description:
- Performs sampling and QC testing of raw materials and finished goods using established methods, SOPs, and specifications.
- Conducts analytical evaluations including (or with the ability to learn): viscosity, mesh analysis, gel testing, moisture, pH, and other functional performance tests.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of functional blends and stabilizer systems used in food applications.
- Coordinates third‑party laboratory testing for microbiological, heavy metal, and other required analyses; tracks, reviews, and documents results.
- Interprets analytical data and prepares Certificates of Analysis (CoAs) using established templates and quality requirements.
- Maintains accurate QC records, documentation, and sample retention in alignment with quality system standards.
- Supports the implementation, verification, and continuous improvement of HACCP, SQF, and other food safety programs; serves as the backup SQF Practitioner.
- Collaborates effectively with quality, operations, supply chain, and other internal teams.
- Works independently, follows established procedures, and demonstrates strong attention to detail.
- Actively seeks opportunities to expand knowledge in analytical testing, food safety systems, and functional ingredient performance.
Education and Experience:
- B.S. degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field preferred.
- 2–4 years of experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment, particularly in mixing, blending, or functional ingredient systems.
- HACCP certification required.
- SQF Practitioner certification required.
- Experience with hydrocolloids, stabilizers, or functional ingredient blends strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with food safety programs, regulatory requirements, and quality management systems.
- Ability to interpret analytical results and communicate findings clearly and accurately.
