Job Title: Custom Applicator
Location: Washington, IA
Reports To: Crop Manager

 

Position Summary:

The Custom Applicator is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient application of crop and land treatment products. This role involves operating specialized equipment, following agronomic recommendations, and ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather and field conditions.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and other products according to recommendations and label instructions
  • Operate, maintain, and clean application equipment (sprayers, spreaders, nurse trucks, etc.)
  • Calibrate equipment to ensure accurate and consistent application rates
  • Follow all federal, state, and local regulations related to chemical handling and application
  • Safely mix, load, and transport chemicals
  • Maintain accurate application records, including rates, locations, and weather conditions
  • Communicate effectively with growers/customers regarding field conditions and application plans
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment, including use of pressure washers
  • Assist with facility operations, including inventory management, loading/unloading, and general upkeep
  • Support additional farm-related tasks as needed
Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Applicator license or ability to obtain one
  • Ability to obtain a Class A CDL and pass a DOT physical
  • Previous experience in agriculture, equipment operation, or chemical application preferred
     

Skills & Competencies:

  • Ability to safely operate agricultural equipment on rural roads
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in application and record-keeping
  • Effective communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely operate agricultural equipment on rural roads
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in application and record-keeping
  • Effective communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Salary : $25 - $30
