We work to hold our political institutions and laws accountable to the twin American ideals of democracy and equal justice for all. The Brennan Center’s work ranges from voting rights to campaign finance reform, from ending mass incarceration to preserving Constitutional protections in national security policies. Part think-tank, part advocacy group, part cutting edge communications hub, we start with rigorous research. We craft innovative policies. And we fight for them – in Congress and the states, in the courts, and in the court of public opinion.

We are seeking an intern to join our Communications department on the Events team to provide design and administrative support to staffs.

  • Note that many events will take place in the early evening, so candidates need to be available to attend events.
  • Editorial and administration jobs may include coordinating meetings, drafting scripts, brainstorming guests and moderators, drafting routine correspondence; track publisher lists for new titles in our subject areas.
  • Marketing tasks to promote events include helping with strategies and contacts for audience outreach, reaching out to co-sponsors; brainstorming, building and updating outreach lists.
  • Production duties include conducting program research, tracking and organizing event logistics.
  • Maintaining multi-media tracking lists and archive (audio, video, photos)
  • Maintaining event materials inventory and assisting with shipments.

Qualifications: The ideal candidates are independent self-starters, friendly, cheerful, energetic, punctual, resourceful, positive, detail-oriented and highly organized. Must have a sense of humor!
