Purchasing Manager

As our Purchasing Manager you will a key member of our hands-on Management Team who is responsible for sourcing all of the products we stock and sell across a wide variety of vendors. The successful candidate will be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple product categories, search for better deals and find more profitable suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Source all Products that Bremer sells from multiple suppliers
• Aggressively negotiate all vendor contracts for best pricing, terms and delivery to insure Bremer can sell items at most competitive price and maintain needed supply
• Works to develop and maintain long-term vendor/ supplier relationships
• Identifies backup vendor supply resources where appropriate to always keep business in stock
• Coordinates all inbound freight deliveries of product either by picking up with in-house trucking resources or contracting out to assorted carrier resources
• Negotiates all contracted inbound freight rates
• Stays current and up to date on market trends and supply issues that can affect pricing and supply patterns and keeps sales staff aware of news
• Monitors and maintains adequate in-stock position of warehouse product inventories to service daily orders
• Reviews and insures all products are within proper shelf life requirements and rotates or culls out stock as appropriate
• Takes ongoing warehouse inventory to physically review stock on hand and shelf life
• Works to input and maintain all Purchase Order Detail in Host System and keep current pricing up to date. Maintains key receiving data to insure Lot Codes/ COAs and all relevant product details are recorded and can be tracked.
• Insures all requests for pricing are reviewed and completed with Sales Manager in a timely manner
• Responsible for all aspects of Food Safety Management details and procedures. Leads business thru an annual two-day SQF Food Safety Audit with outside inspectors.
• Other duties as assigned by GM to assist a small company with daily operations. This includes occasional warehouse backup support to help load and unload trucks if needed.

Skills

• Proven working experience as Purchasing Manager or experienced buying agent
• Strong negotiation and networking skills
• Proficient with sourcing and vendor management
• In-depth knowledge of market dynamics along with keen business sense
• Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with key contract spreadsheets
• Very Organized with assorted daily responsibilities and can multi-task well
• Solid judgement along with decision making skills
• Strong leadership capabilities
• Proficient with Microsoft Outlook/ Word/ Excel

** Food Ingredients background or experience is a real plus **

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
