Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with diverse learning needs in an inclusive classroom environment. This vital role involves working closely with teachers, specialists, and families to foster a positive, engaging, and supportive learning atmosphere. The paraprofessional will assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), managing classroom activities, and providing personalized support to students with disabilities, including those with autism, developmental disabilities, and other special needs. Duties
- Support classroom teachers by assisting with lesson implementation, curriculum development, and instructional activities tailored to students’ individual needs.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with disabilities.
- Assist in behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior and facilitate a safe learning environment.
- Help students develop literacy and math skills through engaging activities aligned with their IEP goals.
- Support students’ social-emotional development by fostering communication skills and encouraging peer interactions.
- Assist with classroom management tasks such as organizing materials, preparing instructional resources, and maintaining a structured environment.
- Collaborate with specialists, therapists, and families to implement accommodations and modifications for students’ success.
Experience
- Prior classroom experience working with children in school settings is highly desirable.
- Experience supporting students with disabilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of special education practices such as IEP implementation, behavior management techniques, and curriculum adaptation is essential.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team are essential for success in this role.
- Demonstrated understanding of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices will help you thrive as a paraprofessional supporting young learners.
