Job Title: Trailer Upgrade Technician

Department:

Pay Range: $18–$30 per hour

JOB PURPOSE

The Trailer Upgrade Technician is a right-person, right-seat role within the Service Department at Brechbill Trailers.

This position owns the timely and high-quality execution of customer-purchased upgrades and accessory installations. The Technician operates within our EOS framework by taking clear ownership of their seat, hitting measurable targets, and contributing to a shop culture built on accountability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Safe & Compliant Operations

  • Perform all work in compliance with shop safety standards and applicable regulations.
  • Use proper PPE and follow established safe work procedures for every task. Identify and immediately report any unsafe conditions to the Operations Manager.
  • Ensure all completed work meets or exceeds quality and compliance standards before sign-off.

Upgrade Execution — On Time, Every Time

  • Execute all assigned customer upgrades and accessory installations with precision and speed.
  • Take full ownership of each job from start to completion — no hand-offs left incomplete. Follow SOPs for each upgrade type and flag missing or unclear procedures to the Service Writer.
  • Meet daily and weekly productivity targets as established on the departmental scorecard. Prioritize jobs in alignment with the schedule provided by the Service Writer.

Shop Cleanliness & Organization

  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace throughout and at the end of every shift.
  • Return tools, equipment, and parts to their designated locations after each use. Identify and report supply or tooling needs before they cause delays.
  • Contribute to a shop environment that reflects the standards of a professional operation.

Productivity & Timelines

  • Manage personal workflow to maximize throughput without sacrificing quality.
  • Communicate proactively if a job is trending behind schedule — no surprises. Track time-per-job and work toward consistent improvement in efficiency.
  • Support team productivity by staying in your lane, doing your job well, and helping where capacity allows.

Communication & Job Coordination

  • Notify the Service Writer immediately upon completion of each job so it can be closed out and invoiced.
  • Report any issues encountered during a job — damaged parts, incorrect specs, access problems — before proceeding.
  • Monitor team chat for task assignments, schedule updates, and job priority changes.
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with the Service Writer on all scheduling matters.
  • Report operational concerns, safety issues, and performance feedback directly to the Operations Manager.

EOS EXPECTATIONS — RIGHT PERSON, RIGHT SEAT

At Brechbill Trailers, we run on EOS. That means every team member is expected to be a right person, living our core values, in the right seat, meaning they GWC the role: Get it, Want it, and have the Capacity to do it.

This role has a clearly defined seat. The expectations below are non-negotiable:

  • Get It — You understand what the job requires and why it matters to the customer and the business.
  • Want It — You show up ready to execute, take pride in your work, and don’t need to be managed into effort.
  • Capacity to Do It — You have, or are actively developing, the skill to perform every task in this seat to standard.
  • Rock Ownership — When a priority is assigned, you own it fully and hit the target. Scorecard Accountability — You track your numbers, know where you stand, and raise your hand early if you’re off track.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with trailer accessories, hitches, or related equipment preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively without close supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to doing the job right the first time.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks in varying weather conditions.
  • Basic proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional in conduct and appearance.
