General Summary: Under the direction and supervision of the Senior Risk Manager and reporting to the SOC Surveillance Manager this position supports organizational efforts to assess risk, analyze security vulnerabilities, and recommend strategies to mitigate threats to people, assets, and facilities. The role leverages available technology and tools associated with the Security Operations Center (SOC) to support digital security operations.Education Required: High school diploma or Equivalent
Preferred: Associate's degree from an accredited college or university
Area of Study (Major) Required: Criminal Justice, Computer Technology, or closely related
Certification(s) Preferred: Physical Security Professional (PSC) or Certified Protection Professional (CPP)

Years Relevant Work Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of security-related experience, including security/alarm monitoring, call center operations, fire life safety, or public safety.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to detect irregular behavior, threats, and suspicious patterns using multi-screen video walls; maintain attention to detail during long periods of monitoring.
- Basic proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office, and email.
- Ability to learn a video management system (VMS) and incident reporting tools.
- Knowledge of security best practices, basic risk assessment, and incident response procedures.
- Ability to detect, analyze, and respond appropriately to safety or security events, including receiving incident information and engaging appropriate internal resources in a timely manner.
- General familiarity with security systems, including closed-circuit television (CCTV), access control, and fire alarm systems.
- Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions.
- Ability to observe situations analytically and objectively, and to react quickly and calmly in emergencies while respecting the rights and privileges of individuals and groups using agency facilities.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with coworkers, patrons, community groups, and the general public.
- Ability to perform duties in an ethical, professional, and unbiased manner.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
- Monitor BREC’s security surveillance, access control, and fire alarm systems through the Security Operations Center (SOC).
- Assist in identifying risks and security vulnerabilities and support the development of mitigation strategies.
- Detect, document, and report incidents, concerns, or suspicious activities in accordance with established procedures.
- Collect, log, and organize relevant incident data (e.g., timestamps, screenshots, recordings) and support post-incident analysis and investigations.
- Escalate complaints related to suspected criminal or unwholesome activities to the appropriate superiors and/or authorities.
- Advise the public on applicable laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations related to park and recreation facilities in a positive and professional manner.
- Notify and coordinate with appropriate law enforcement or emergency services when necessary.
- Report unauthorized practices, safety and health hazards, and unsanitary conditions to designated authorities.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), confidentiality agreements, and data protection requirements.
- Maintain professional conduct and situational awareness at all times.
- Prepare and complete required reports and documentation.
