General Summary The IT Coordinator Intern works under the direction of the Assistant Director of Information Systems. The IT Coordinator Intern will coordinate and assist with IT plan implementation. Requirements and Job Specifications Education Required: Enrolled or newly graduated from a college or university.
Area of Study (Major) Required: Computer science, Information Systems and Decision Sciences (ISDS), Management Information Systems (MIS) or related technical field. Certification(s) Required: N/A License(s) Required: Valid LA Driver's License. Years of Relevant Work Experience: 1 up to three years of experience in IT, Computer Science or Systems Analysis.
Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered Other Job Specifications: Knowledge of IT Systems and Applications Knowledge of and experience in Microsoft operating systems Knowledge of Wide Area Networks Skill in introductory training & instruction of end users Skill in using database applications Great attention to detail Good communication skills both verbal and in writing Ability to troubleshoot and repair issues Ability to make technical decisions concerning information systems applications and performance Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public Functions and Duties Perform work in accordance with knowledge of BREC operations Install and maintain computers, hardware and PC software including BREC software and appropriate hardware Determine value in legacy software or equipment and recommend new or upgraded enhancements to existing software programs or hardware and operating systems Answer all software or hardware related requests for training, fixes, other issues and takes them to completion Provide technical support and assistance on software or hardware issues and desktop (PC) applications Monitor and control the operation of software or computer equipment Determine the cause of malfunctions and take corrective action as needed Coordinate the efforts of contractors, consultants, and vendors that are assigned such activities Maintain a history log of service calls, vendor responsiveness, etc. for all software or hardware maintenance Answer all software-related requests for training, fixes, other issues and takes them to completion Provide technical support and assistance to end users on software issues and desktop (PC) applications Assist with IT Plan development and implementation Perform other job-related duties as requested Other duties as assigned This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee. Supplemental Information Employee type and hours will vary depending on school schedule; Part time position (up to 29 hours) or Seasonal (5 months up to 40 hours); lunch break daily overtime as required. Some evening and weekend work required. Basic office equipment includes but not limited to: servers, computers & all peripherals, calculator, telephone, photocopier and fax machine.
