Years of Relevant Work Experience: 2 year's related-work in the field of professional accounting, auditing or financial management. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Other Job Specifications:
- Knowledge of all accounting principles, practices & procedures and journal entry preparation
- Understanding of Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Knowledge of account coding, bank reconciliations & data entry
- Thorough knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, procedures and process governing the receipt, custody, and expenditures of governmental monies
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Team-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Solid analytical skills with a thoughtful and open-minded approach to problem solving
- Proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel, etc.
- Highly motivated with the ability to multi-task and remain organized in a fast-paced environment
- Work with internal and external audits to ensure compliance
- Ability to apply accounting principles to fiscal and accounting record maintenance
- Ability to effectively communicate clearly, both orally and in writing

- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion with sensitive or confidential issues and/or personnel matters
- Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements including balance sheets and cash flow.
- Ensures the reconciliation of BREC cash accounts.
- Post accounting journals to general ledgers daily and corrects any coding or date errors
- Assist with the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts (other than cash) for all funds.
- Manages and oversees collection of receivables.
- Works with internal and external auditors during annual external audit and periodic internal audits.
- Identify and research control gaps, irregularities and errors; recommends corrective actions and suggest improvement.
- Attend staff or other management meetings and provide suggestions to accounting related issues.
- Examine routine accounting documents and check for accuracy of entries to include cash receipts, bank entries, and reimbursements.
- May assist with budget preparation.
Secondary Job Duties:
- Cross trains and substitutes as Senior Accountant.
- May assign, review and coordinate the work of other account clerks.
- Prepares special reports for Auditors and Finance Director.
- Other duties as assigned.
