The CMO exists to provide operational, leadership, and strategic services to the schools in the Breakthrough Schools network. The CMO is committed to providing high-quality services to the schools and bolstering the high-impact performance of the schools, making the CMO and network greater than the sum of its parts. The CMO provides economies of scale in staffing, tools, and time-based efficiencies. We serve 3,000 K-8 grade scholars across five schools and employ over 450 staff members.

 

THE OPPORTUNITY
Breakthrough Public Schools seeks a highly organized and relationship-driven Manager of Family Partnerships to support the planning and implementation of family partnership systems and engagement initiatives across the network’s schools.
Reporting to the Director of Family Partnership, this role is responsible for managing the execution of network-wide family partnership priorities; supporting schools in strengthening family engagement practices; overseeing retention and persistence systems; monitoring key performance indicators; and ensuring consistent, high-quality family experiences across all campuses.


The Manager serves as a critical bridge between network-level strategy and school-based implementation, ensuring every family experiences proactive communication, culturally responsive support, meaningful engagement opportunities, and strong relationships from enrollment through long-term scholar success.


The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, strong cultural competency, and a deep commitment to educational equity, authentic family partnership, and continuous improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities
Scholar Retention

  • Support the execution of network-wide scholar retention strategies to reduce no-shows, attrition, and summer melt.
  • Monitor retention and family engagement data to identify trends and inform action.
  • Support schools in engaging at-risk families and strengthening persistence.
  • Manage family communication and feedback systems that improve retention and satisfaction.
  • Track retention KPIs and provide progress updates to the Director, Family Partnership.
  • Promote culturally responsive practices that strengthen family relationships and long-term scholar success.

Family Engagement & School-Based Support

  • Support schools in planning and executing family engagement events.
  • Coordinate implementation of network family programming (Back to School Nights, School Showcases, etc.).

Communication & Family Feedback

  • Coordinate family communication tools and systems, including newsletters, POSSIP surveys, and event outreach.
  • Monitor systems to document, track, and close the loop on family concerns, questions, and feedback.

Community Partnerships & Family Resources

  • Support coordination of family-centered community partnerships.
  • Assist in connecting families to relevant resources.
  • Support outreach strategies for families facing barriers.

  • Technology Proficiency: Comfortable using Google Workspace and digital tools for communication, data tracking, and collaboration.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Community Engagement, Communications, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in roles directly supporting families and scholars, family engagement, social services, and community engagement.
  • Strong knowledge of family systems, early childhood or K–12 education, and community-based supports.
  • Strong relationship-building skills across diverse communities.
  • Cultural competency and commitment to equity-centered family engagement.

Location:
The position is located at the CMO’s central office in Cleveland, Ohio. The position will require travel to schools and events in the Cleveland area. This role involves working evenings and occasional weekends for family events.

 

Compensation and Benefits:
Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience.

Salary : $57,600 - $72,000
