About the Role
Breakout Finance is seeking a Vice President of Product to own and drive the design, development, and optimization of our internal operating system. This role sits at the intersection of product management, operations, and technology, responsible for transforming how the company operates by aligning systems, workflows, and teams into a scalable, high-performance engine. You will act as the product owner of our operational infrastructure, leading the integration of systems, automation, AI, and process design to enable the company to scale originations from $100M to $250M annually without proportional headcount growth.
Mission
To design and continuously evolve Breakout’s operating system (MESH) by:
- Optimizing operational technology architecture and integrations
- Building scalable, standardized workflows across the lending lifecycle
- Eliminating manual work through automation and AI
- Enabling seamless collaboration across Sales, Underwriting, Finance, Closing, and Back Office
- Driving measurable gains in productivity, speed, and operational excellence
What You’ll Own (Product Mindset)
You will function as the Product Owner/Lead, responsible for:
- The end-to-end operating experience across all teams
- The technology stack and system integrations
- The workflow architecture and process design
- The continuous improvement backlog (automation, AI, process optimization)
- Adoption, usability, and performance of internal systems
Key Outcomes
- Optimize all operational platforms (CRM, underwriting systems, back-office tools)
- Design and implement system integrations that eliminate swivel-chair work
- Deploy AI-assisted and automated workflows across all departments
- Map, redesign, and standardize workflows across the full lending lifecycle
- Develop and implement SOPs, SLAs, and operational playbooks
- Establish dashboards and KPIs for data-driven decision making
- Improve cycle times across Sales, Underwriting, Closing, and Finance
- Enable 2.5x origination capacity without proportional headcount growth

Product & Systems Leadership
- Own the roadmap for the MESH operating system
- Evaluate and optimize operational technology platforms
- Design integrations and data flows across systems
- Prioritize and implement automation and AI use cases
Process & Workflow Design
- Map current workflows and identify inefficiencies
- Design scalable, standardized processes across all teams
- Create operational playbooks, SOPs, and decision frameworks
- Establish cross-functional SLAs and handoff protocols
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Sales, Underwriting, Finance, Closing, F&A, and Legal teams
- Train and influence teams to adopt optimized workflows and systems
- Drive alignment between technology and operational execution
Continuous Improvement & Analytics
- Build and manage a backlog of improvements (automation, AI, process enhancements)
- Develop dashboards and KPIs to measure efficiency and adoption
- Continuously refine workflows based on performance data
