Brunch Server

Bread & Friends is hiring a Front of House Team Member! We are currently looking for a server experienced in hospitality to work our fast paced brunch service. We pride ourselves on our hospitality and unique variety of house-made offerings. Our team consists of passionate service industry workers, from baristas to bread bakers to cooks, and we are looking to add like-minded folks for the summer season and beyond. A candidate that would be a good fit for this position thrives in a fast paced atmosphere, enjoys working in the mornings and having their afternoons/evenings free, and is excited about serving an ever evolving menu of inspired food and drink.

About B&F:

• Bread & Friends is a bakery and restaurant on Fore Street, in the Old Port neighborhood of Portland; our mission is to foster community through delicious food that is meant to be shared. We specialize in naturally leavened bread, artisan pastry, and an elevated brunch menu, which is complemented by a craft coffee program and a small wine, beer, and cocktail selection.
• Bread & Friends is open 7 days a week from 8am-1pm. We are currently seeking full time hires for our FOH team.

About this position:

• At Bread & Friends, we offer both take out from the counter and full service dine-in brunch in our dining room. We strive to maintain high standards for service, food, and beverage to not only meet, but also exceed the expectations that guests have when they walk through our doors. We want to grow our FOH team with folks that can contribute to the standards of excellence that we want to maintain for the years to come.
• We are currently seeking folks to fulfill server roles during our busy brunch service. Tips are pooled at B&F and we work together as a team to accomplish service.
• Shifts are approx. 8 hours and typically begin at 7AM/7:30AM and end around 3/3:30PM.

Position duties include:

• Create and maintain a hospitable atmosphere for all guests.
• Execute service in a timely and hospitable manner.
• Maintain a deep knowledge of the menu and be a guide and resource for guests on the ingredients, purveyors, cooking/baking techniques, etc. that are used on our menus.
• Able and willing to work multiple positions (server, host, register) with the ability to evolve during service to allocate your efforts where they are most needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including all guest-facing areas, dining room, coffee bar area, server station, and restrooms.

Qualifications:

• 1 year professional hospitality or service experience required, serving experience is preferred but we are willing to train the right candidate!
• Ability to multitask, work in a team environment, and communicate efficiently and effectively.
• Ability to work efficiently and maintain a calm and friendly demeanor in a fast paced, high volume environment.
• Can meet physical demands of position including pulling, pushing, carrying and lifting up to 50lbs, and standing for extended periods of time.
