PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Charter School Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the educational program and building operations within our district. The Charter School Superintendent will provide strategic direction and leadership to ensure the academic success and overall well-being of our students with a staff of 60 employees. Our school district serves approximately 350 Pre-K through 7th grade students who are enrolled at two campuses of which one is located in Bryan, TX and the second is located in Houston, TX. The School Superintendent will work closely with the School Board, Principals, staff, parents, and the community to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
The Charter School Superintendent will have a proven track record of successful leadership in an education setting. The Charter School Superintendent must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders at all levels. A deep understanding of curriculum development, budget management, and student assessment is also essential.
In addition to serving as the district’s educational leader, the Charter School Superintendent will be responsible for recruiting and retaining top talent, implementing innovative educational programs, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. This role requires a visionary thinker who can inspire and motivate others to achieve their full potential.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
•Doctorate Degree in Education or closely related field with an emphasis in educational administration preferred
•Master’s Degree in Education or closely related field with an emphasis in educational administration required
•Experience with a Charter School preferred

Work Experience and Skills:
•A minimum of three years’ experience as a School Principal, Assistant Superintendent, or Charter School Superintendent in a high performing Charter School.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Leadership and Vision:
1.Serves as the liaison between the school district and the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
2.Submits all reports required by the federal and state laws.
3.Develops and communicates a clear vision for the district’s educational goals and priorities in conjunction with the Board of Directors.
4.Leads the development and implementation of the district’s strategic plan.
5.Accountable for overseeing all aspects of educational operations within the district.
6.Promotes a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in teaching and learning.
7.Holds regular meetings with Principals and Executive Staff to discuss progress and educational challenges facing the district.
8.Directs the operations and activities of administrators.
9.Ensures administrators effectively guide and coordinate the educational system’s operations and activities.
10.Secures administrators assistance in formulating internal objectives, plans, and programs.
11.Evaluates administrators job performance.
12.Provides administrators with support and advice on a continual basis as required.
13.Establishes and administers the school district’s evaluation and performance management programs, to ensure that the standards of employee performance are maintained, constructive feedback is provided and corrective action taken when necessary.
14.Approves the vacation schedules for administrators and be personally responsible for all evaluations of administrators.
Board Relations
15.Serves as the primary liaison between the school board and the district’s staff.
16.Serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the school district, administering the development and maintenance of a positive educational program designed to foster student achievement and meet the needs of the school community in conformance with Board policies and applicable law.
17.Acts as a reference agent for issues and concerns brought to the Board of Directors.
18.Implements policies and directives established by the school board.
19.Provides regular updates to the board on district performance, needs, and initiatives.
20.Prepares and submits to the Board recommendations relative to all matters requiring Board action; placing such information and reports before the Board that will enable the Board to make informed decisions.
21.Advises the Board on recommendations for the educational advancement of the district.
22.Supervises the carrying out of all laws, regulations, and Board policies.
23.Works with Board members and advisors, including auditors, architects, attorneys, consultants, and contractors.
Educational Program Management
24.Oversees the timely revisions of all academic curriculum.
25.Attends educational conferences and visit other districts as necessary to keep Principals and the Board of Directors informed of changing trends and laws in education.
26.Oversees the development throughout the District of high standards of performance in educational achievement, use and development of personnel, public responsibility, and operating efficiency.
27.Works alongside school Principals and leaders to continuously evaluate and optimize teaching practices, training programs, curriculum delivery, assessments, and other aspects influencing the school’s academic operations and atmosphere.
28.Development, support, supervision, coaching, and evaluation of school administrators to cultivate a constructive atmosphere among faculty, staff, pupils, and community.
29.Develops and implements strategies continually to improve Principal professional development initiatives for optimal results.
30.Collaborates with Principals and administrative staff to structure and carry out comprehensive summer and annual professional development seminars for teachers and staff.
31.Develops a personalized training curriculum that caters the specific needs of the Principals, administrative staff, and instructional leaders, considering varying levels of experience and expertise.
Financial Management
32.Develops and manages the district’s budget in conjunction with financial contracts with the Education Service Center (ESC Region VI) in alignment with educational priorities.
33.Maintains adequate school records, including a system of financial accounts, business and property records, and school population.
34.Acts as custodian of such records and all contracts, securities, documents, title papers, books records, and other papers belonging to the Board.
35.Ensures the efficient and effective use of district resources.
36.Pursues additional funding opportunities through grants and partnerships.
Grant Writing and Fundraising
37.Identifies potential grant opportunities from Federal, State, and private sources.
38.Writes and submits grant proposals to secure funding for district initiatives.
39.Develops and maintains relationships with funding agencies and organizations.
40.Monitor and ensure compliance with grant requirements and reporting.
Compliance and Accountability
41.Ensures compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
42.Oversees the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
43.Monitors and reports on the district’s performance, ensuring accountability and transparency.
44.Oversees and administers the use of all school district facilities, property, and funds to9 ensure that those resources are utilized appropriately.
Crisis Management
45.Develops and implements plans for emergency preparedness and crisis response.
46.Leads the district’s response to emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff.
Community Engagement
47.Serves as the public face of the district and engage with stake holders, including parents, community members, and lo0cal organizations.
48.Establishes and maintains liaisons with community groups that are interested in or involved in the educational programs of the District.
49.Communicates effectively about the district’s goals, challenges, and achievements.
50.Builds partnerships to support educational initiatives and student success.
