- Structural Validation: Perform structural analyses of mixed beam and plate elements to validate and optimize designs for load requirements, material usage, and overall safety.
- Complete Fabrication Packages: Produce clear, comprehensive fabrication packages that empower our shop floor to build with clarity and precision. This includes creating 3D assembly and part models, detailed drawings, BOMs, and cut sheets.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with Sales to provide technical input for quotes, collaborate with Purchasing on materials, and partner with shop personnel to answer questions, incorporate feedback, and ensure a smooth fabrication process.
- Process Ownership & Improvement: Take ownership of projects by managing engineering timelines, controlling design revisions, and releasing accurate documentation. Help us get better by refining design standards, improving drawing templates, and contributing innovative ideas for process improvements.
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related with 5 years of experience in mechanical design.
- Structural Expertise: A strong grasp of mechanical and structural engineering principles, with the ability to perform calculations (by hand or using FEA) to ensure designs are safe, efficient, and durable.
- CAD Proficiency: High proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and 2D drafting to create detailed, shop-friendly fabrication packages.
- Fabrication Knowledge: Familiarity with common steel fabrication processes, including welding, cutting, forming, and assembly.
- Initiative & Flexibility: Ability to juggle multiple projects, troubleshoot challenges, and work autonomously in a dynamic environment.
- Collaborative Spirit: Strong communication skills and a desire to work as part of a team, coordinating effectively with sales, purchasing, and the production floor.
- Attention to Detail: A meticulous eye for detail to ensure that designs, drawings, and documentation are correct and of consistent quality.
