Brazos Electric is seeking a skilled and motivated Field Communications & SCADA Technician to join our team supporting critical transmission system technology across our cooperative.
What You’ll Do:
- Install, commission, test, and maintain SCADA, EMS, and networking equipment including RTUs, IEDs, routers, switches, AMI/DA systems, and substation automation platforms.
- Support and repair telecommunications systems such as Ethernet and TDM microwave, GPRS, two-way radio, power line carrier, and unlicensed wireless.
- Install and maintain fiber-optic systems, power line carrier equipment, line tuners, and protective relaying circuits.
- Perform maintenance at communications sites—generators, ATS units, battery banks, HVAC, security systems, dehydrators, and tower lighting.
- Keep firmware and software updated across SCADA, microwave, network, and testing devices.
- Prepare and maintain test reports, configuration files, and field redline drawings.
- Ensure compliance with FAA, FCC, and NERC maintenance and documentation requirements.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for emergency and unscheduled system support.
- Work closely with engineering, operations, member cooperatives, vendors, and circuit providers.
What You'll Bring:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Associate degree in electronics, related technology, or equivalent military electronics training preferred.
- Networking certification such as CompTia Network , CCNA, JNCIA or NRS1 is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently.
