SUMMARY
Detention Deputy is responsible for the care, custody, security, and supervision of inmates incarcerated at the county detention center. Detention Deputies performs inmate supervision, facility security, and administrative duties while promoting safety, professionalism, and humane treatment of inmates.

- Maintain firearms proficiency in accordance with Department standards.
- Maintain compliance in the Office’s Physical Fitness Program.
- Perform all services at a high level and are customer oriented.
- Supervise, monitor, and control inmate activities, behavior, and movement within the facility.
- Conduct inmate intake, classification, searches, property management, and release/transfer procedures.
- Perform inspections of cells and facilities to ensure compliance and detect contraband.
- Maintain logs, reports, and records of daily detention operations.
- Operate security systems including doors, alarms, and surveillance equipment.
- Respond to disturbances and apply use of force tactics as needed.
- Escort and transport inmates to courts, medical facilities, or other designated locations.
- Manage inmate visitation, mail, and related transactions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS – The duties of this position may involve certain physical requirements that are necessary to perform the essential functions to include, but not limited to:
- Perform physical activities including walking, running, crawling, standing, sitting, jumping, kneeling, bending, and lying down for extended periods;
- Perform physical tasks involving carrying, pushing, pulling, dragging, and holding medium to heavy objects;
- Operate vehicles, exercising sound judgment and strict adherence to safety procedures;
- Engage in high-stress and physically demanding duties and training scenarios;
- Speak and hear in order to communicate effectively in person, through telephone, and through emergency radios.

Salary : $28 - $29
