Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Instructor
We are hiring an experienced Brazilian Jiu Jitsu full time Instructor for a premium academy opening soon in the Henrico and Tuckahoe area.
This position will begin with up to two classes per day and expand as membership grows. The ideal candidate is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu brown belt or black belt with proven experience teaching both adults and children.
The instructor will follow an established curriculum and class structure rather than creating programming independently. We are looking for someone who is dependable, professional, energetic, and comfortable representing a high end academy to students and prospective families.
Responsibilities
- Teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes for children and adults
- Follow the academy’s established curriculum and lesson plans
- Lead technique instruction, drills, positional training, and controlled sparring
- Maintain a safe, structured, and positive class environment
- Manage children’s classes and student behavior effectively
- Provide clear instruction and constructive feedback
- Communicate professionally with students and parents
- Help prospective students and families during academy tours
- Support student onboarding and introductory classes
- Wipe down and sanitize the mats after classes
- Help maintain an organized and professional training environment
- Represent the academy’s standards, culture, and values
Qualifications
- Brazilian Jiu Jitsu brown belt or black belt
- Previous Brazilian Jiu Jitsu teaching experience required
- Experience teaching and managing children’s classes required
- Reference checks required
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Dependable, punctual, and professional
- Comfortable following an established curriculum and operating system
- CPR, first aid, and AED certification required or willingness to obtain certification
Schedule
- Part time position (15-25 hours to start)
- Up to two classes per day to start
- Additional classes and hours may become available as the academy grows
