As an MHT, you will be instrumental in implementing treatment plans, managing crises, and ensuring the well-being of each resident through attentive care and behavioral support.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and supervise adolescents in residential settings to ensure safety and adherence to program rules.
- Assist with daily living activities including hygiene, nutrition, medication observation, and routine health checks such as vital signs.
- Implement behavior management strategies and applied behavior analysis techniques to promote positive behaviors and skill development.
- Conduct crisis intervention and crisis management when residents exhibit challenging behaviors or emotional distress, ensuring de-escalation and safety for all.
- Document medical records, behavioral data, and progress notes accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
- Support residents during intake procedures and ongoing assessments by collecting relevant data and observations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, therapists, and medical staff to coordinate care plans tailored to each adolescent’s needs.
- Deliver structured, therapeutic support to adolescents with diverse mental health, trauma-related, and developmental challenges, ensuring interventions match their individual needs.
- Observe and record behavioral patterns, progress reports, and incident reports diligently to inform treatment adjustments.
- Maintain a safe environment by conducting regular safety checks, managing medication administration responsibly, and adhering to medical terminology standards.
- Engage families or guardians as appropriate to provide updates on resident progress while respecting confidentiality protocols under HIPAA.
Qualifications
- Experience working with adolescents or individuals with mental health, behavioral, or developmental needs preferred
- Ability to maintain a calm, supportive presence during crises or emotional escalations
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with youth
- Reliable, consistent, and able to follow structured therapeutic routines
- Ability to complete documentation accurately, professionally, and on time
- Willingness to work in a trauma-informed, strengths-based environment
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical, nursing, academic, and residential teams
- Must pass a Level II background screening
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to stand, walk, and actively supervise residents throughout the shift
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
