Position Overview
The Onsite Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and support of AV/UC systems within fully integrated conference rooms, boardrooms, and similar spaces. This role covers the full spectrum of AV/UC support — from advanced diagnostic troubleshooting, system administration, and control system/DSP configuration, to hands-on preventive maintenance, event support, and end-user assistance. The Engineer administers and maintains Cisco Unified Communications Manager (Call Manager) and Synergy Sky infrastructure, supports new system build-outs, and ensures all systems remain at peak operating performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance checks, services, and advanced diagnostic troubleshooting on AV/VTC systems
- Administer and apply service packs/updates to Cisco Unified Communications Manager (Call Manager) and Synergy Sky servers to maintain compliance with applicable security and vulnerability management standards
- Provide control system and digital signal processing (DSP) equipment maintenance and support, including minor configuration changes to control systems, interface graphics, or DSP to optimize performance
- Provide field service support of networked devices (routers, IP protocols, etc.)
- Oversee day-to-day AV/UC operations, including hands-on hardware maintenance (e.g., projector lamp changes, filter cleaning, cabling)
- Set up, support, and monitor video calls and events as needed
- Support new conference room build-outs and onboarding of newly commissioned rooms, including QA and installation support
- Obtain elevated access privileges as required to support system administration
- Provide direct assistance and training to end users on AV/UC system operation
- Coordinate contractor and/or manufacturer-provided field support as required
- Ensure compliance with all customer safety and procedural guidelines at all times
- Track all maintenance activity from start to finish with proper documentation
- Maintain sufficient spares and accurate inventory on hand to enable rapid resolution of routine service issues
- Coordinate with the Help Desk for collateral support, RMA processing, and parts procurement as needed
- Perform administrative tasks such as completing service tickets/reports and maintaining system readiness status boards
- Coordinate outside rental and staging services for special events as needed
Required Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Hands-on experience administering Cisco Call Manager (Cisco Unified Communications Manager)
- Demonstrated experience with Synergy Sky
- Strong Audio Visual (AV) / Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems experience, including hands-on hardware maintenance
- Experience with control systems and DSP configuration
- Experience supporting networked devices (routers, IP protocols)
- Ability to work full-time onsite in Indianapolis, IN
- Ability to commit to a 3-year contract engagement
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and end-user training skills
- Willingness to obtain elevated system access and comply with customer security protocols for work in secure spaces
- Prior experience in a federal government or DoD AV/UC environment preferred
