Position Title: Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Educational Support Paraprofessional

Department: Educational Support Services Reports To: Director of Educational Support Services
Position Type: Full-time (7:45-3:30)

The Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Educational Support Paraprofessional plays a dual role in supporting both the emotional and academic success of students. This position serves under the Department of Educational Support Services and works collaboratively with teachers, specialists, and families to promote student well-being and academic growth.

The SEL component focuses on fostering the emotional, social, and behavioral development of students in Transitional Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. The educational support component centers on assisting in the implementation of evidence-based intervention strategies for students with documented learning disabilities, autism, and ADHD, providing essential resource support.

Key Responsibilities:

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL):

● Design and facilitate age-appropriate SEL lessons and activities aligned with school values and developmental needs.

● Support classroom teachers with strategies to integrate SEL practices into daily routines and academics.

● Provide small group and individual support to students needing additional social- emotional guidance.

● Model and reinforce positive communication, empathy, and conflict-resolution skills.

● Promote a school-wide culture of kindness, inclusion, and respect.

Educational Support Services:

● Assist in implementing evidence-based academic and behavioral interventions for students with learning disabilities, autism, and ADHD.

● Provide one-on-one and small-group support under the direction of the Educational Support Services team.

● Track and document student progress to inform ongoing intervention plans.

● Collaborate closely with teachers and specialists to adapt classroom activities and materials for diverse learners.

● Support the overall function and coordination of the Educational Support Services department.

Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field (preferred).

● Experience working with elementary-age children in an educational or therapeutic setting.

● Familiarity with evidence-based intervention strategies for learning differences, autism, and ADHD.

● Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

● Understanding of child development, SEL frameworks, trauma-informed and neurodiversity affirming practices.

● Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
