What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parts Department Manager – RV Dealership position at Braun's Fun Time Campers?
Braun’s Fun Time Campers – Indianapolis, IN
Full-Time | Salaried Position | $40,000–$55,000 Based on Experience
Braun’s Fun Time Campers is a family-owned RV dealership that has been serving Central Indiana since 1977. We’re looking for a dependable, organized, and customer-focused individual to join our team as our RV Parts Department Manager.
Previous RV experience is helpful, but it is not required. Experience in automotive, marine, powersports, equipment, or another parts-related industry is a plus. More importantly, we’re looking for someone who communicates well, enjoys helping customers, stays organized, and works well with technicians and fellow employees.
We are a smaller, family-owned dealership, so this is not a position where everyone stays strictly inside their own department. Our Parts Manager and Service Manager work closely together and help each other as needed. We believe in a healthy team environment where everyone is willing to step in and help with the ultimate goal of taking care of the customer.
What You’ll Do
As Parts Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and organization of our RV Parts Department while working closely with our Service Manager and service technicians.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist customers and service technicians with identifying, sourcing, and ordering RV parts and accessories
- Manage special orders, incoming shipments, returns, warranty parts, and vendor communication
- Maintain an organized, accurate, and well-stocked parts department and retail display area
- Help manage inventory levels, pricing, purchasing, and department profitability in coordination with the Service Manager
- Communicate with customers regarding parts availability, order status, and service-related needs
- Work closely with technicians to ensure parts are available and repair jobs continue moving efficiently
- Assist with service scheduling, repair orders, warranty administration, and customer communication when needed
- Help cover Service Department responsibilities when the Service Manager is unavailable
Likewise, our Service Manager will assist with Parts Department responsibilities when needed. We operate as a team rather than separate departments.
Who We’re Looking For
The right person does not necessarily need previous management experience or RV experience. We are willing to train someone who has the right attitude and skills.
Our ideal candidate is:
- Dependable – someone we and our customers can count on
- Customer-focused – friendly, patient, and comfortable working directly with the public
- Organized – capable of keeping track of multiple orders, customers, technicians, and priorities at the same time
- Comfortable working with service technicians in a busy repair environment
- Able to communicate clearly with customers, vendors, technicians, and coworkers
- Comfortable using computers, online ordering systems, email, and basic business software
- Mechanically inclined or comfortable learning about RV systems and components
- Able to research and problem-solve when the correct part isn't immediately obvious
- Willing to learn the RV industry
- Able to work independently without needing constant supervision
- Comfortable wearing multiple hats and helping wherever needed
- Positive, professional, and team-oriented
Experience in RV, automotive, marine, powersports, equipment, hardware, or a related parts environment is helpful but not required.
Management experience is also helpful but is not required.
Our Parts Suppliers
Our Parts Department works with a variety of suppliers, including:
- NTP-STAG
- Meyer Distributing
- RV manufacturers and OEM suppliers
- Local and regional independent parts suppliers
Experience working with parts catalogs, distributors, manufacturers, or inventory systems is a plus, but we can train the right candidate.
Physical Requirements
This is an active position and is not primarily a desk job. The Parts Manager should be comfortable:
- Being on their feet for much of the workday
- Stocking and organizing shelves
- Receiving and putting away shipments
- Lifting and moving RV parts, batteries, and accessories
- Using ladders to access inventory
- Moving throughout the dealership and service department regularly
Schedule
Full-Time
- Monday-Friday: 9:00 AM-5:00 PM
- Saturday: 9:00 AM-1:00 PM
Compensation
Salary: $40,000–$55,000 per year
Compensation will be based on experience, industry knowledge, and qualifications. Candidates with strong RV, automotive, marine, powersports, or related parts experience may qualify toward the upper end of the range or above.
Benefits
- 5 paid holidays
- 1 week paid vacation during year one
- 2 weeks paid vacation beginning in year two
- 3 paid personal/sick days annually
- Paid RV/product training
- Employee discounts
Why Braun’s Fun Time Campers?
We’re a family-owned RV dealership that has been serving customers since 1977. We believe good customer service starts with employees who communicate, work together, and take ownership of getting things done.
Because we are a smaller dealership, you won’t be just another employee in a large corporate operation. You’ll work directly with our Service Manager, technicians, sales staff, ownership, and customers.
We expect everyone to have their primary responsibilities, but we also believe in helping one another when things get busy. Parts helps Service, Service helps Parts, and everyone works toward the same objective: a satisfied customer who wants to do business with us again.
If you are dependable, organized, enjoy working with people, and are interested in joining a locally owned company where your contribution matters, we’d like to hear from you.
