Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, energetic, and motivated associate to join our expanding team. As an entry-level accounting team member in a fast-paced transportation and logistics environment, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounts payable/accounts receivable, and supporting month-end closing activities. This role is crucial to ensuring seamless financial operations between our shipping, warehousing, and finance teams, making it an excellent opportunity to start a career in logistics accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process a high volume of vendor invoices, carrier payments, and customer billing with high accuracy.
- Freight Audit & Billing: Verify freight invoices against rate confirmations, tracking data, and purchase orders to resolve discrepancies.
- General Ledger Support: Post journal entries, categorize transactions in accounting software and maintain the chart of accounts.
- Reconciliations: Perform daily/weekly bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Month-End Support: Assist with the month-end close process, including accruals, prepayments, and preparing financial schedules.
- Communication: Coordinate with operations teams to clarify shipment issues and liaise with carriers regarding payment status.
- Administrative Support: Maintain digital records, assist with audits, and handle other ad hoc financial tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
- Experience: 0–2 years of accounting experience (internships count!). Experience in logistics, transportation, or freight brokerage is a significant plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, Vlookups) is required. Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) or logistics software is advantageous.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to handle complex data and maintain high precision in high-volume, fast-paced environments.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills.
