Junior Project Controller

Braun Management
Chicago, IL Full Time
POSTED ON 6/10/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 12/5/2026
Braun Management works with executive teams to solve complex organizational problems that have become too internal to fix. We focus our effort on structural truths, addressing underperformance and clarifying decision rights when conventional management structures stop working.
We are partnering with a client organization that is currently restructuring its core business operations. As a Junior Project Controller, you will help us track and analyze project delivery metrics for this and other structural consulting engagements. This position exists to maintain precise tracking of project timelines, resource deployment, and financial reporting, ensuring our team delivers clear, evidence-backed solutions for our clients.

What you will do
  • Track project budgets, expenditures, and billable hours to ensure strict administrative control and precision.
  • Draft clear summaries of project status, resource burn rates, and timeline updates.
  • Assist in identifying and documenting organizational friction points within our active consulting projects.
  • Maintain clear project files, ensuring all meeting decisions and action items are documented.
  • Analyze operational data and financial metrics using spreadsheets, highlighting anomalies to the consulting team.
  • Coordinate scheduling and operational workflows to keep our deliverables on track.
  • Support the preparation of materials and data tables for client review meetings.

What we are looking for
  • Completed training or higher education in business administration, finance, or a related field with strong quantitative focus.
  • High comfort level with spreadsheet software and data analysis, combined with high attention to mathematical detail.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to state objective facts clearly.
  • A natural curiosity regarding complex business systems and how operations function.
  • Strong organizational skills, with a preference for structured processes and clear documentation.
  • An ability to extract key details from meetings and draft summaries without losing context.
  • A reliable, methodical approach to routine administration, valuing the necessary work that supports the team.

Our way of working

We work in a structured hybrid model that balances focused independent progress with collaborative face-to-face days. This model allows team members to handle deep analytical work in their own quiet environments while utilizing in-office days to align on complex project structural plans and share insights. We put a high premium on thorough written documentation, preferring structured memos and clear records to brief status updates or endless chat messages.

What the role offers
  • A permanent, full-time employment contract with Braun Management.
  • A paid position offering competitive pay designed to attract and reward thorough junior talent.
  • Mentorship from senior consultants who value structural truth and clear corporate governance.
  • A balanced hybrid working pattern that respects your focus time.
  • Opportunities to build foundational expertise in structural consulting and high-level project management.

This role is foundational to the administrative discipline our clients expect from Braun Management. By keeping project metrics clear and resource reporting accurate, you remove operational friction before it can impact our analytical deliverables. Your rigorous attention to detail ensures that our senior consulting team can offer the evidence-backed recommendations necessary to resolve the deepest organizational issues. Under your control, the background operations of our client engagements remain reliable and clear.
