Tool Room Attendant

Position Summary

The Tool Room Attendant supports fabrication operations by managing, organizing, and maintaining tools, welding equipment, and consumable supplies. This position ensures that all fabrication personnel have the necessary tools and materials available, properly maintained, and ready for use to support efficient, safe, and high-quality production.

Key Responsibilities

• Issue and receive fabrication tools, welding equipment, and consumables to shop personnel.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of tools, welding supplies, and consumable stock.
• Inspect tools and equipment for wear or damage and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.
• Keep the tool room and storage areas organized, clean, and properly labeled.
• Ensure proper check-in/check-out procedures are followed for all tools and equipment.
• Monitor inventory levels and notify supervision when stock needs replenishing.
• Prepare and stage tools and materials for upcoming fabrication jobs.
• Track usage of welding rods, grinding discs, and other consumables to control waste and ensure cost efficiency.
• Support compliance with all safety and housekeeping policies.
• Assist with small tool maintenance such as changing grinder discs, checking cords, or cleaning equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in a fabrication, welding, or industrial shop environment preferred.
• Familiarity with fabrication tools, welding equipment, and related consumables.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain accurate inventory records and follow established procedures.
• Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and tool management.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
