Compensation: $20 - $25/hour

Job Summary: This position primarily role is to rehabilitate and maintain passenger car and facilities interiors and systems. Work typically includes general upkeep of facilities and property, sanding, staining, painting, finishing, electrical and plumbing repair. Ideal candidates will be self-motivated and can work with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform repairs and maintenance of all BSR operated and owned equipment and facilities, including but not limited to:
- Install or repair plumbing and restroom fixtures.
- Sand, stain, finish and paint interior and exterior surfaces.
- Install trim and finish woodwork on interiors.
- Conduct minor electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
- Assist with repair or replacement of windows, doors, flooring or walkway surfaces.
- Landscape and general exterior daily upkeep including watering, weeding, sweeping and deck washing.
- Employ basic railroad operating practices and rules to ensure successful interaction with operating and mechanical crews.
- Operates company vehicles that require a standard driver’s license.
- Strict compliance with BSR rules and procedures and applicable Federal and State regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education, Skill and Work Experience Requirements:
- Experience with general repairs and maintenance of facilities and equipment, including plumbing and electrical, required.
- Ability to use ladders and scaffolds in a safe and efficient manner, required.
- Experience using small power tools such as miter saws, table saws, jig saws, drills, grinders, etc., required.
- Preference will be given to candidates with additional experience such as commercial paint applications, HVAC, upholstery or A/V systems.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English.
- Must be able to interact effectively with coworkers and customers.
- Ability to work closely with others in a safe and effective manner while comprehending and carrying out complex tasks.
- Valid Driver’s License.

- Extended periods of time walking or standing.
- Regular time spent outdoors in all types of weather.
- Ability to bend, squat, stoop, crawl and twist.
- Regular lifting in excess of 50 pounds.
