Reports To: Aggregates Plant Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt/ Full Time

Location: Fairplay, CO

Pay Range: $90,000-$120,000/yr DOE

Position Summary :

Supervise daily operational activities which include oversight of plant production, plant maintenance, and pit mining operations. These duties include operation and oversight of heavy mobile equipment, conveying, screening, crushing, and washing equipment. Apply operational knowledge of heavy mobile equipment, conveying, screening, crushing, washing equipment, pumps, and safe operation of electrical components. Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all equipment and facilities.

Functional Responsibilities:

• Lead by example on all safety rules/procedures and ensure that all employees under your direction are following established safety polices/procedures
• LOTO procedures are followed on all equipment at the location
• Encourage employees to participate in safety activities
• Successfully implement company safety and environmental policies
• Lead and direct production employees in all phases of the pit operations
• Plan and conduct daily safety/operational meetings with employees under your supervision
• Complete all reports and records as required
• Responsible for the proper care, maintenance and location of all tools and equipment
• Maintain good housekeeping throughout work area
• Communicate any ideas that might reduce costs and/or improve overall production
• Must be a competent operator, for training, relief, and lunch breaks
• Direct and assist in equipment maintenance and repairs
• Ability to work with computer software such as Microsoft Word and perform general administrative duties related to plant reporting functions
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Must be self-motivated, flexible, and willing to learn
• Ability to work in inclement weather conditions
• Ability and willingness to work extended hours, shifts other than day shifts, and nights and weekends as necessary.
• Highly reliable team player and the ability to work well with others
• Must have a valid Driver’s License
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical, which will include a background check

Physical Requirements:

• Capable of working outside in all weather conditions and in elevated areas
• Ability to walk, climb, grasp, stand, and balance
• Ability to lift objects of various dimensions and weights
• Ability to perform sustained overhead reaching

Minimum Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalency
• Previous experience supervising people in an industrial environment.
• Previous mine operations experience preferred including work as a plant operator in sand and gravel mining operations.
• 3-5 years previous supervisory experience

Knowledge and Skills:

• Must be able to complete pre-shift inspections and develop actions related to such
• Must be able to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and read and interpret gauges, ratios, and read various equipment operation manuals
• Comprehensive understanding of MSHA Rules and Standards
• Must have base competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job including methods, materials, tools, and operation standards related to working in a mining environment
• Ability to establish effective and diverse working relationships with other employees
• Ability to identify and solve problems, develop action plans, and make decisions to resolve
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions and work independently with little or no supervision
• Must have the ability to plan, organize, and prepare accurate records related to the position
• Daily inspection of all work areas in the pit
• Knowledge and understanding of operations and maintenance of heavy equipment
• Previous supervisory experience a plus including work in sand and gravel mining operations
